Soulshine Bulungula
04:43
|
|||
We saw the sun dip low
Uplifted and refreshed our souls
Looking up at the southern sky
We said "goodbye, now go"
We sat there beside the cliff
We silently wondered if
The winds would journey from the sea, and blow our troubles free
Yea wishing that the skies beside would never leave the sea
The moon shined down and said, you see, “Come run away with me”
Whoaa
Yea the smoke rings grew and
Encircled your face until they drew
A smile so bright, the stars of night were all we ever knew
We held our breath as the silence swept
These lands that we have come to love and call our home
It's not always easy, got beat down, stepped on and left quite queasy
But from now on you know we’ll never be alone…
Pre-chorus:
Never alone,
As we journey down this winding road
To the same old tone, stumbled on upon a stepping stone
And now you’re leaving
It’s apparent in the way you’re breathing
Run, run, run, run
Chorus:
Lay by the moonlight
And stay as if it might
Say “you were so right today…”
Keep on keeping on this way
We sat there beside a tree
Reminisced of stories we
Had collected so long ago, and buried by the sea
We went to the mountain top
Listened to the waters drop
Watched the pebbles fall, the soft winds call
And bring them to a stop
The shadows fade
We watched the light come embrace the shade
And kiss the signs of day as it has done since it was made
In our pockets we found
Two small seeds to bury in the ground
One day they’ll grow tall and strong, together they are bound
Pre-chorus
Chorus

Footprints in the Sand
04:55
|
|||
It started out with a little bit of doubt, can’t help wondering exactly what she’s all about
Juxtaposed, the skyline and her clothes
Anticipating all the words which show just how the night will go
It only grows as her smile sweetly glows and the summer breeze agreeing that I should approach
Well I do have a simple love for blue
Eyes flowing with your clothing brought me over to converse with you
Mhhmmm, Mhhmmm
Excuse my stare the flower in your hair’s got me tantalized like there’s something in the air
I won’t mislead, I must say that I’m intrigued
The smile in your eyes is showing me that you’d agree
Now what’s your name? I’m swearing it’s a shame
That this introduction had to wait until this evening came
And “one love” from the speaker right above
While we’re moving to the music tell me something you love speaking of
Speaking of… Speaking of…
It’s nothing that you hold in your hand, it’s nothing prearranged or planned
I’m seeing that you understand these footprints in the sand. These footprints in the sand.
The simple things I see you love what this world brings
Can’t help realize your words leave your lips and ring
Now it’s overdue we’ll take the corner spot for two
With a side of conversation and a little bit of tea to brew
And so it seems by your vibe and how you beam
That your heart’s content living something like a dream
She says, “my mind runs to the rhythm of the drums
Then the ocean waves are there to carry me until the morning comes.”
Mhhmmm Mhhmmm
Might I imply what appears to meet the eye
Is your heart and soul are captivated by the evening sky
So let us go to where the sky will show
We’ll continue with these footprints that we should’ve set so long ago
The day has gone we can lay here until dawn, we’ll analyze just what these stars have drawn
We’ll lose all complications beneath these constellations, relations, these sweet vibrations
Beneath these skies we will rise
CHORUS
Footprints in the sand you can’t ignore, they're written down beauty on the ocean shore
Some you’ll beg and plead, wishing for more, others put away in the bottom drawer
So for now, what do you say? I know a cozy place to stay
“The night is young,” said the eyes of the sun so come along, right along this way

Jabulani (His Story)
04:10

My friend I must say that you have brightened my day
I’m coming from the north, the Great Zimbabwe
See now I refuse to lose my soul
Or my love for all its worth as this life unfolds
And so I raise my arms to greet the new day
Grateful for this land where I live, where I stay
But blown astray by the winds I must obey
I tell you that my heart is in Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe
You see now, I start my morning with a look into the sky
Standing ankle deep, my thoughts arriving with the tide
With each grain of sand that sifts right through my hand
I feel strong love for my own homeland
But wait you see, this life has treated me
As well, most would say, quite unpleasantly
As I pay the fee, to feed my family
My life here is not easy as a refugee.
Pre-chorus
Some days I’d feel so alone // Kicked around like an old, small stone
Rolling down through the deep unknown // It’s in my bones, deep in my bones
Chorus:
See I’m a refugee, been carried from my homeland // A working man, can see it in the palms of my hands And I’m holding true, just got to push on through // You know I’m living this life the best way that I can
Again I say, my heart is in Zimbabwe // Where I grew strong, I lived and I learned
Again I say, my heart is in Zimbabwe // But one day you know I will return
Well I’ve been asked, of the things that I can give
So I think of this life that I’ve lived and I’ve lived
And I’m not sold, by the cold craze for gold
My love, my life is my child I hold
You see now, just one look into her eyes
I know that she put the stars in the sky
Made the rivers flow and the soft winds blow
I’m telling you, I love her so
I love her so, oh I love her so
She gives a smile as the sun dips low
I love her so, oh I love her so
She keeps my heart strong, wherever I go
I’ve seen it all, both the large and small
Tough to say I’ve seen my whole world fall
So I say, I rise to convey
I’m grateful for my daughter, our health, and this day
Pre-chorus
I struggle still, I know // But I have hope of abundant flow // That one day I will take her home,
Yes, we’ll go home. Yes, we’ll go home!
Chorus
But I’m a refugee, been carried from my homeland
A working man, can see it in the palms of my hands
And I’m holding true, just got to push on through
You know I’m living this life the best way that I can
Again I say, my heart is in Zimbabwe
Where I grew strong, I lived and I learned
Again I say, my heart is in Zimbabwe
But one day I will return

Good Company
03:03
|
|||
Said bring that good company
Gonna boogie to the music so sweet
Lights low, curtains down to the knee
Held tight, feeling right, good energy
Laying easy till the morning time calls
Loneliness, in good riddance it falls
Moonlight sings while starlight brings
Good things
Steady rock easy, rock steady slow
Hold a bit just let your mind go
Come close, intertwine, you know
Feeling so right from your head to your toes
Smile bright
And let your soul shine
Good company’s got you feeling quite fine
Spring-summer breeze is blowing through the trees
Singing, “we could all use some good company!”
Chorus:
Said bring that good company
Gonna boogie to the music so sweet
Lights low, curtains down to the knee
Held tight, feeling right, good energy
Laying easy till the morning time calls
Loneliness, in good riddance it falls
Moonlight sings while starlight brings
Good things
Total darkness but the candles and the moon
Got minds to ease, and souls to soothe
No worries or troubles to be found
You keep it so right you’re always welcome around
Live it up, live it well and be free
Choices and opinions, we all see things differently
Well I may be wrong, but I think that you’d agree
We could all use some good company
So, just let it be
Kicking back easy to the ocean and the sea.
Waves crashing, right up to your toes
Your pulling me, and I’m pulling you close
Ohh, just relax the mind
Forever keep feeling fine
Drift away to your sweet, sweet dreams
The goodness that good company brings
Said bring that good company
Gonna boogie to the music so sweet
Lights low, curtains down to the knee
Held tight, feeling right, good energy
Laying easy till the morning time calls
Loneliness, in good riddance it falls
Moonlight sings while starlight brings
Good things

"Don’t go away, don’t let them take you away!" His son bent down and cried
"Don’t go away, Daddy, don’t go away!" Looking him right in the eyes
"Don’t go away, no, don’t go away…
My only wish is that you’d stay... My only wish is that you’d stay!"
Well the gun on his shoulder’s held ready and loaded,
With each shiny bullet reflecting the life of another man , but still, “march on” is the command
So he follows his orders while, grasping his photos
Where his son and his daughter smile brightly beside his beloved wife
Wishing he was home sitting right by their side, right by their side, right by their side
Well weeks and months gone by, and his gun’s still on his shoulder
But today in the mail, a card from his daughter saying: "Daddy, I’m six today!
And I wanted to say I love you-
Big brother, he says he loves you and mommy says she loves you, too. And daddy, I wish you were here! Daddy, I wish you were here!"
Then down at the bottom hand some scribbles written saying,
“Well Daddy, I know that I’m young, but I just don’t understand, why must things be this way?
Be this way, be this way, be this way?
They made you a soldier, they took you away- Trained you with weapons, which destruct as they spray, all of this leaving me confused today- so confused today"
Well night has now rolled on through, but he gets out his notebook and, by starlight
He pours out his heart to his wife at home
Writing these words, expressing these words, crying these words:
"This fight is expensive, friendship would be free
My soul has been torn screaming 'please let me be!'
My dreams are now nightmares of things I have seen
And the orders of generals, and all of their schemes…" They say… This is what they say…
“We must win this fight, this is our enemy!” But when I look in their face and see people like me
And when I hold up my gun to do what they say I see his face across the way and he’s screaming,
Yea, he’s screaming,
“I surrender, yea I surrender! I’ve got two kids of my own!
Yea I surrender, yea I surrender! I’ve love my wife back home!
Yea I surrender, I surrender! I’ve seen too many go!
Yea I surrender, yea I surrender! I beg you to spare my soul!
Yea I beg you to spare my soul! I beg you to spare my soul”
On the other side of the card were some words
Written for his kids saying,
“Daddy’ll be home soon, and I’m gonna be just fine…
Just fine, just fine, just fine, just fine,
Just know that I love and miss you,
Just know that I love and miss you,
And I can’t wait to see you soon”

Box up your love and
Send it on a boat across the ocean
Love your mind
Keep your smile and your soul strong
And don’t be lost
In this wild world we love to live in
Follow your soul, and
See what the future gives
Take your time
Watch the waves as they come crashing
But don’t be far
You know a shoulder’s made for resting
Lend out your hand
An empty one is cold and lonely
But live your life
Live it well and live it slowly
Chorus:
Let love satisfy your soul
Surround yourself with good people and
Hold tough, till the spring time comes
Find your strength in the morning sun
Live on!........... live on (x2)
Watch the sky
The moonlight will lead us home
The stars above
Will let us know that we are not alone
And open minds
Shall supplement the things we know
Our own two hands
Can greet the world and help our children grow
Lay close,
Dream deep and trouble free
Relax the mind
The morning will bring the best of things
And hold on true
By these morning skies so blue
We’ll sturdy up our souls and push on through
Chorus

Inevitably Home
04:22
|
|||
Mellow mood has got my soul
Feeling good, yea feeling whole
All the while, bringing that smile
We’re feeling home, home sweet home
Ain’t no place we need to be
Sitting steady, minds roam free
Oh how these words come easily-
We all know life gets down, you see
Ohh all these troubles, we have found
Struggling to hold our ground
In some ways, we may dread another day
Feeling so weighed down
Weighed down,
Feeling chained to the ground
Weighed… weighed down
Chorus:
But then again...
Home! Got good people right by our side, and
Home! Makes our weak hearts strong when we cry
Home! Is bringing good things in our lives
And don’t be fooled by goodbyes-
Home! Will follow you as you go on, and
Home! Is carried in your shadow’s arms
Home! Is singing us that sweet, sweet song
Where ever you roam may your find yourself home!
Open arms and open eyes
Your greetings warm, and on the rise
Lend out your hands beneath these skies
Holding close, the sweet replies
You see now,
These traveling shoes bring traveling blues,
So pick us up music, we’re yours to sooth
What you say’s got us feeling this way-
We’ll be dancing these pains away
See us in the morning, beginning to sway
Carrying on through the evening as the sunset fades
Feet moving to the rhythm on this sweet, sweet day
Bringing life and new color to these shades of grey
Don’t you fade away now
No, don’t you turn away now
Just hear these words we say now
(CHORUS)

It’s all in the way you rise in the morning time rested and feeling fine
Carry on through to the living room, we all got living to do
Do do, do do do do do do do, we all got living to do
And now his honey babe’s awake, carries over to her a strawberry-mango shake
Sweet smile, soft eyes and his hand, she takes
Got a little bit of loving in the morning to make say,
Love in the morning to make x2
Across the street, got four small feet of two children playing in the sand
She’s got flowers on her dress, he builds a castle to impress
And they run off holding hands, they run off holding hands, they run off holding hands
Just down the road, see the man’s quite old face defined by smile lines
Tips his hat for his lady, gives a flower to his lady and they walk on feeling fine
Yea they walk on feeling fine, They walk on feeling fine
Pre-chorus
See one day when morning comes Grab your old shoes and run
Glancing back at the morning sun The morning sun, the morning sun
Reflection is in your eyes, painted by the morning skies, your delicately dealt disguise, rise
Chorus:
Well looking around we're grasping the all the little significant found things
We see that inevitably, they’ll carry us away and then set us free
So, we find that this and that moment are one of a kind
Now swept, away by the words on the wall of that old cafe
Walking right along we hear the good old song of birds singing up in the trees
Got songs of these and those memories Just indulge in the melodies (x3)
Since our birth we’ve been walking this earth and driving down different avenues
Got songs to choose, how about you play us some blues?
Got a little bit of healing our souls can use, yea healing our souls can use x2
In the steps we take, in the mornings we wake, in the sounds, in the sights and breeze
In the simple things, in this life and these dreams I feel home by the sands and seas (x3)
In the tears we cry, in the smiles replied in the sounds of the songs we play
In the looks of day, in the places we lay
I got a spot by the sea, why don’t we head that way? Wwhy don’t we head that way? x2

Dreams
03:43
|

When these eyes close
Minds, they will run
From the insanity
And the beautiful things
And when these eyes close
A darkness may come to sing
Yet it may sing brighter,
Like the other side always brings
And when these eyes close
Minds they will drift away
Oh they will drift away
Like a boat on the ocean
A sail left open
Ohh, drifting
Returning when wishing
Got no time constraints but those running through the mind
Ohhh but soon, soon to come on home
And see the morning sun
Say that it’s all begun
Chorus:
Lively, lively your spirits love
I see you crying there, now, what are you dreaming of?
Lively, lively your spirits love
I see you smiling there, now, what are you dreaming of?
Dream, dream dream, dream on, dream (x2)
Oh my son rises so, ohh so late you see
To escape the pains he faces, and we
Come by in these lives that we live and flee
Beyond the misery, beyond the mystery
On a flower, she wishes for all she’s got
“He loves me, he loves me not”
Just to grasp the wisdom the pedals hold
Dreams, oh dreams they come and go
Tease the mind then flow
Yes with the wind they blow, they go, they go so
And you’re laying down so close me
So beautiful indeed, now rise up slowly
Chorus

Let’s take a stroll down this rhythm road
To escape these pains which have grown so old and cold
We’ll take a seat beneath this melody tree
And escape to the sea, escape within the songs it sings
May we rewind to a kinder time
Where we appreciate the simple things we find
Indeed, let us dig up this rotten seed
Our individuality must not be consumed by greed.
And now let us look upon what we’ve stumbled on
This here thing called love which has come and gone.
And re-instill, it is our will, if we are to carry on
Then we must love
Yes we must love
Prechorus:
Put those poisoned games aside
These sticks and stones, they have been tried
In this darkness we can no longer hide
Chorus:
Awaken our minds and compassionate souls
And let this sweet river flow, with all the love that it holds
Embracing the ways- ‘their’ ways and ‘our own,’
On this earth we call home, we are one, we are whole
And so it goes
Have you kicked back with the passerby, beneath the evening sky
Where we realize, we analyze-
Our actions, they are all intertwined, and
How humane really is humankind?
So now we’ll dip our toes where the water flows
To sustain our highs, and lift our lows
Our souls, must also be fed
But not by money or gold for which our love has been shed
I see you awake to meditate to the sunrise
Appreciate these skies, drawn up before our eyes
No longer shall we let them go, no,
We must honor this sweet world beneath the moonlight and starlight’s glow
Yes, honor this earth we know
Prechorus

Sunrise Song
04:41
|
|||
Either way, at the break of day
The sun comes across the waters
And I'm sitting here, I'm waiting here
For a morning and two full moons gone…
Gone by, gone by, gone, by
Sunrise on the eastside, sunset on the west
I’ve emptied my pockets and given my best
My toes keep on dipping in waters unknown
And ripples they carry to shore
The cracks in the sidewalk which trace my path home
Leave nothing but starry nights outside alone
The minutes seem longer, the incense burn slower
And photos still on the wall
Been away… for far too long
Distance denies requests and replies to have you in my arms for another day
Chorus:
Well you may be far and time run slow
But this old clock has freed my soul
And those mixed puzzle pieces have finally found their place,
Saying, live on, and rise with the morning sun,
I’ll pick you up by the railway, about half past noon
Yea carry on, smiling to the unknown song,
Singing, I’m loving that my long awaited sunrise came so soon
Upon closer inspection, I grasp the reflection
In windows and mirrors on the wall
Got nothing but smiles, she’s traveled the miles
Till phone calls diminish to none
Now sitting in sand, my sunrise in hand
We’re begging and pleading for more
But despite our requests, you must set in the west-
But when morning comes you’ll be back again.
Well either way, at the break of day,
The sun comes across the waters
I'm sitting here, I’m waiting here
For a morning and two full moons gone…
Gone by, gone by, gone by
Been away… for far too long
Distance denies requests and replies to have you in my arms for another day
Chorus:
Well you may be far and time run slow
But this old clock has freed my soul
And those mixed puzzle pieces have finally found their place,
Saying, live on, rise with the morning sun,
I’ll pick you up by the railway- about half past noon
Yea carry on, smiling to the unknown song-
Singing, I’m loving that my long awaited sunrise came so soon
Yea I’m loving that my long awaited sunrise came so soon (x3)

Wake up sweet honey, the morning’s seeping through
The sun it shines between the blinds just to greet you
So don’t rush words, just take it slow
Don’t mind your worries, don’t let them grab hold.
And dance away your uncertainties
Let your glass be full, your smile be wide and the seas be seas
Don’t be anchored, don’t be weighed down
Small change and smiles make the sweetest sounds.
Mmmm… the sweetest sound
Mmmm… the sweetest sound (x2)
Well taking it back in time
Revelation for the mind
All worthy moments spent
Living and loving meant
Ice cream and picture frames,
Stories of bears and games
History….
Historyyy
Chorus:
Talking bout no socks, taking a quick stop, while she’s laying there on the grass
Said just a few words before the mind blurred, thinking about ‘ohh how I need you now’
But so much unsaid, doubts control the head, you know neither could anticipate
The good times, mixed in with road signs, and the memories as they’ve come along…
As they’ve come along…
Oh as they’ve come along…
Pictures really don’t do justice, no
Let each thousand words paint a thousand turns for a story told,
She said, “you know, even a small bed is meant for two”
And don’t go running, from the best you knew.
The stars have come now to greet the day
Let the candles burn, the wax drop slow and let it melt away.
Eyes closed light up a different space
But drift away, it’s a friendly place.
Ohh, a friendly place
Ohh, a sweet, sweet place (x2)
Well, taking it back in time
Revelation for the mind
All worthy moments spent
Living and loving meant
Pictures still kept frames,
Best of times still come the same
And the sunrise
Brings a smile
Chorus:
Talking bout no socks, taking a quick stop, while she’s laying there on the grass
Said just a few words before the mind blurred, thinking about ‘ohh how I need you now’
But so much unsaid, doubts control the head, you know, neither could anticipate
The good times, mixed in with road signs, and the memories as they’ve come along…
As they’ve come along…
Oh as they’ve come along…

Hey my friend, would you lend me your hand
And play that sweet, sweet song yet again?
See in the start had this weakness in our hearts
Now its buried by the waves in the sand in the sand, say
You’ve been a while, I can see it in your smile
Forgot the troubles this world brings and the trials
That irie state, smoke clouds rise then break
We’re living to the rhythms that 11 N. way, N. way.
Now, now, what more can I say?
Our minds’ made up-,we’re on our way
On to a better place
Slip these sandals on,
Gonna wear them till the sole is gone
Singing, we’ve only got one life to live
So pass another one to cool us down
Gather up, gather around this town
Make yourself at home and stay till you please and
Play that sweet music with ease
Pre-Chorus:
My friend, there is no other way, no
You know there is no other way, no
You know there is no other way, no other way
CHORUS
Some good talk later, it’s 4am
These songs running through our heads again
Again and again, again and again.
Oh you know, they’re mixed and they’re matched
Warm breeze singing this winter has past
In simple stride, we move it on outside
Singing carry on slow, yes carry on slow
And let it all go,
Yes let it all go
Let the music take hold,
Let the music take hold

Whispered By the Sea
05:23

I lay down and watch your footprints from the shade
They trace along the ocean until you fade
And I hold my tongue as I go to call your name
Go live this life as it was made
When I take a moment just to look into your eyes
I watch the stories as they pass by
I see the faces and admire all the distant places
That you have called your home in this sweet life
And now I watch you go, carried by your strong and satisfied soul
Painted by the sun in shades of gold
Your footprints light, as you go on they unite
Writing, “our thoughts and our dreams are not so out of sight”
Well someday you know, we will come to do the same
And put an end to this old game
So journey on my friend, journey far beyond the seas
And carry on until you please
Chorus:
Lay your hands on slowly down
Your knees now, bending towards the ground
Now hold on closely to what you’ve found
Before these truths they slowly drown
I lay down and watch you as you go about your day
It seems as though we have lost our way
Fooled by that paper framed up on the wall
As if once it’s there, we’ll have it all
And now I stand, just an educated fool
As she’s buried in the sand this golden rule
She said, “my friend, you know, things are not always as they seem
So go on out and live your dreams”
Chorus:
Lay your hands on slowly down
Your knees now, bending towards the ground
Now hold on closely to what you’ve found
Before these truths they slowly drown
